Program Overview
The doctoral program aims at cultivating young scholars in the fields of management, and enabling them to conduct high-quality scientific research that advances the knowledge of managerial knowledge in both China and the rest of the world.
The program is designed for candidates with outstanding intellectual abilities and a strong commitment to research, who are passionate to become excellent researchers and faculty members, especially within top management institutions.

Admission
The program requires five years of study for applicants who are bachelor degree holders and 3 years for applicants with master degrees. Each academic year, Nankai Business School recruits about 50 students for our doctoral program.
PhD program accepts both Chinese and international applicants. All international applicants are required to provide official documents certifying their English and Chinese language levels.
Graduation Requirement
All doctoral students are expected to present an oral defense of their dissertation proposal to the dissertation committee. Their doctoral dissertation research must be original and significant for related literature. Before the final defense, the dissertation must pass an anonymous review process, in which five reviewers are randomly chosen from the academic reviewer pool. Only when a doctoral student successfully passes his/her final oral thesis defense and meet all requirements of the program will he/she be considered to the completion of the entire doctoral program and entitled to earn a PhD degree from Nankai University.
International
Joint program
Doctoral students have an opportunity to apply the scholarship from the China Scholarship Council to study in an overseas university under two supervisors.
International conference support
To encourage our doctoral students to conduct high quality academic research and to engage in active communications with outside scholars, Nankai provides international travel allowances to those who will present their papers to top international conferences.
Financial Support
Various kinds of scholarships from both the university and the school are provided to doctoral students. During the entire study period, doctoral students may also obtain financial supports via research or teaching assistantship.
